President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK, participated in the 68th General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization
President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK, participated in the 68th General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 7 to 15 July 2026.
Delivering Türkiye’s national statement, Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK addressed recent developments in the field of intellectual property, the initiatives recently carried out by TÜRKPATENT, and the projects implemented in cooperation with WIPO.
Working Meeting with the International Olympic Committee
As part of the General Assembly, Prof. Dr. DURAK held a series of meetings and consultations. His first meeting was a working session with Carlos CASTRO, Head of the Intellectual Property Unit of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and his delegation.
Visit to WIPO Director General Daren TANG
Together with Ambassador Hakan ÇAKIL, Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Prof. Dr. DURAK visited WIPO Director General Daren TANG. During the meeting, the parties reviewed the ongoing cooperation between TÜRKPATENT and WIPO and discussed potential areas for future collaboration.
Prof. Dr. DURAK presented Mr. TANG with the book Treasures of Anatolia: Geographical Indications, which showcases Türkiye’s geographical indications registered in the European Union.
Bilateral Meetings
Continuing his engagements during the WIPO General Assembly, Prof. Dr. DURAK also held bilateral meetings with representatives of the WIPO Transition and Developed Countries Division (TDC), the WIPO Academy, the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO), the Autonomous Service of Intellectual Property of Venezuela (SAPI), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, and the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP).
The discussions focused on ongoing cooperation, current projects, and potential areas for future joint initiatives.
