Adana Şalgamı Registered in the European Union

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced that Adana Şalgamı has become the 45th geographical indication from Türkiye to receive registration from the European Union (EU).

In his statement, Minister KACIR emphasized that, in line with the vision of the Local Development Initiative, they continue to promote and protect Anatolia’s ancient production heritage and unique flavors on the international stage.

Kacır stated:
“With its deep-rooted production tradition and distinctive aroma, Adana Şalgamı has been registered by the European Union and placed under protection. Thus, the number of Türkiye’s geographical indication products registered in the EU has reached 45. In line with our Local Development Initiative vision, we will continue to promote and protect Anatolia’s ancient production heritage and unique flavors internationally. I sincerely congratulate all stakeholders and producers who contributed to this success.”

EU-Registered Products

With the registration of Adana Şalgamı, the number of Turkish products protected in the European Union has increased to 45.

The 45 geographical indications registered in the European Union are as follows: Gaziantep Baklavası (Dessert), Aydın İnciri (Fig), Malatya Kayısısı (Apricot)4.
