TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK announced that the final stage has been reached for the registration of Bursa Şeftalisi in the European Union
Turkish Patent and Trademark Office President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK announced that the final stage has been reached for the registration of Bursa Şeftalisi (Peach) in the European Union (EU).
Stating that Bursa Şeftalisi, whose application was deemed registrable by the EU Commission, was announced in the EU Official Gazette for registration, DURAK said, “As of February 6, 2024, the objection period, which will last for 3 months, has started for Bursa Şeftalisi, one of the symbol products of our country. With the completion of this last process, Bursa Şeftalisi will also take its place among our registered geographical indications in the EU."
DURAK said, “We protect our local values. Today, we have 20 geographical indications registered with the EU, and Araban Sarımsağı (Garlic), whose announcement process has been completed, will also be registered soon. This will make the number increase to 21. "The procedures for our 45 geographical indication applications are continuing."
Türkiye's EU registered geographical indications are as follows:
Antakya Künefesi (Dessert), Ayaş Domatesi (Tomato), Aydın İnciri (Fig), Aydın Kestanesi (Chestnut), Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Bayramiç Beyazı (Fruit), Çağlayancerit Cevizi (Walnut), Edremit Körfezi Yeşil Çizik Zeytini (Olive), Edremit Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Ezine Peyniri (Cheese), Gaziantep Baklavası (Dessert), Gemlik Zeytini (Olive), Giresun Tombul Fındığı (Hazelnut), Malatya Kayısısı (Apricot), Maraş Tarhanası (Foodstuff), Milas Yağlı Zeytini (Olive), Milas Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Safranbolu Safranı (Saffron), Suruç Narı (Pomegranate), Taşköprü Sarımsağı (Garlic).
