Hüyük Çileği has been granted Geographical Indication Registration by the European Union
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced that Hüyük Çileği (Strawberry) has become the 25th geographical indication registered by the European Union.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced in a post on his social media account that Hüyük Çileği has been registered with the European Union. Stating that they continue to introduce the unique flavors and values of Anatolia to the world with the international geographical indication campaign they have initiated, KACIR said, "Hüyük Çileği has become our 25th geographical indication registered with the European Union. May it bring good luck to our country, especially to Konya."
President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK also stated in his social media account post, that the applications they made to the European Union as TÜRKPATENT within the scope of the international geographical indication campaign yielded successful results. DURAK stated, "With the registration of Hüyük Çileği, the number of registered geographical indications in our country in the European Union has reached 25. The registration process of our 62 applications in total, 5 of which are in the announcement phase, is also ongoing."
Turkiye's geographical indications registered in the European Union are as follows: Gaziantep Baklavası (Dessert), Aydın İnciri (Fig), Malatya Kayısısı (Apricot), Aydın Kestanesi (Chestnut), Milas Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Bayramiç Beyazı (Fruit), Taşköprü Sarımsağı (Garlic), Giresun Tombul Fındığı (Hazelnut), Antakya Künefesi (Dessert), Suruç Narı (Pomegranate), Çağlayancerit Cevizi (Walnut), Gemlik Zeytini (Olive), Edremit Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Milas Yağlı Zeytini (Olive), Ayaş Domatesi (Tomato), Maraş Tarhanası (Foodstuff), Edremit Körfezi Yeşil Çizik Zeytini (Olive), Ezine Peyniri (Cheese), Safranbolu Safranı (Saffron), Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Araban Sarımsağı (Garlic), Osmaniye Yer Fıstığı (Peanut), Bingöl Balı (Honey), Bursa Şeftalisi (Peach) and Hüyük Çileği (Strawberry).
