İpsala Pirinci (Rice) and Bursa Kestane Şekeri (Chestnut Candy) Registered in the European Union

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced that the International Geographical Indication Mobilization continues to promote the values of Anatolia worldwide, and that İpsala Pirinci (Rice) and Bursa Kestane Şekeri (Chestnut Candy) have been registered in the European Union.

In a statement shared on his social media account, Minister KACIR said: “With the International Geographical Indication Mobilization, we continue to showcase the values of our Anatolia on a global scale. With İpsala Pirinci (Rice) and Bursa Kestane Şekeri (Chestnut Candy), the number of geographically indicated products registered in the European Union has now reached 42. Our rice grown in the fertile İpsala Plain of Edirne and our chestnut candy which keeps alive the craftsmanship tradition of Bursa represent a branding story extending from local to global. In 2025, 13 new products of ours were registered in the European Union. This marks the highest annual registration in our country’s history. Within the vision of the Local Development Initiative, we will continue to record, protect, and brand our treasures.”

Zeki DURAK also remarked on his social media account that with the registration of Bursa Kestane Şekeri (Chestnut Candy) and İpsala Pirinci (Rice) in the European Union, the number of geographically indicated products registered in the EU has reached 42. DURAK emphasized that through the International Geographical Indication Mobilization carried out within the vision of the Local Development Initiative, Turkey’s geographical indications continue to gain recognition and branding at the international level.
