Manisa Mesir Macunu Registered in the European Union

As of November 4, 2024, Manisa Mesir Macunu (Paste) became the 28th geographically indicated product registered in the European Union.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced in a statement he made on the social media platform X that Manisa Mesir Macunu was registered by the European Union.

Minister KACIR stated the following in his post: “Prepared with 41 different spices, with its healing content and centuries-old tradition, our mesir paste is among the most valuable flavors of our cultural heritage. We continue to introduce the richness of Anatolia to the world with our local development initiative.” Kacır stated that the number of geographically indicated products registered in the European Union increased to 28, folowing the addition of Manisa Mesir Macunu to the list.

TURKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK also made a statement on the social media platform X, saying, " Manisa Mesir Macunu, which we applied for as TURKPATENT within the scope of the International Geographical Indication Mobilization, has become our country's 28th registered geographical indication in the European Union. We are proud to bring the richness of Anatolia together with the world. May it be auspicious for Manisa and our country."
