"Milas Yağlı Zeytini" (Olive) becoming Türkiye's 14th registered geographical indication in the EU.
"Milas Yağlı Zeytini" (Olive) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, becoming Türkiye's 14th registered geographical indication in the EU.
Announcing the news, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR stated, “There is a lot of product diversity in Türkiye. We are aware of the potential of our country in this field. We are taking the necessary steps for national and international branding. Taking advantage of these opportunities, we will continue to make our name mentioned with admiration by making progress culturally as well as being economically beneficial for our country," he said.
Stating that we currently have 14 registered geographical indications in the EU, KACIR said “with the registration of Ayaş Domatesi (Tomato), Edremit Körfezi Yeşil Çizik Zeytini (Olive), Ezine Peyniri (Cheese), Maraş Tarhanası and Safranbolu Safranı (Seasoning) before the end of 2023, the number of our registered geographical indications in the European Union will increase to 19”
The 14 products with geographical indications in the EU are as follows:
1. Antakya Künefesi (Dessert)
2. Aydın İnciri (Fig)
3. Aydın Kestanesi (Chestnut)
4. Bayramiç Beyazı (Fruit)
5. Çağlayancerit Cevizi (Walnut)
6. Edremit Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil)
7. Gaziantep Baklavası (Dessert)
8. Gemlik Zeytini (Olive)
9. Giresun Tombul Fındığı (Hazelnut)
10. Malatya Kayısısı (Apricot)
11. Milas Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil)
12. Milas Yağlı Zeytini (Olive)
13. Suruç Narı (Pomegranate)
14. Taşköprü Sarımsağı (Garlic)
