Prizes Found at the 3rd Universities Patent Competition Award Ceremony in Turkey with Patents

Organized with the aim of increasing patent awareness in universities, equipping university students with information they will use in their professional careers and academic studies, and encouraging invention activities that have an important place in Turkey's technological development, the awards of the '3rd Universities Patent Competition” found their owners with the ceremony held at the Istanbul Technical University Ayazağa Campus. Within the scope of the program, the "Pan-European Young Professionals Program Memorandum of Understanding" was held by the European Patent Office and Istanbul Technical University.

"Patentle Turkey - 3rd Universities Patent Competition Award Ceremony" and the "Pan-European Young Professionals Program Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony" between the European Patent Office and Istanbul Technical University were held at Istanbul Technical University on April 28, 2023. With the signed Memorandum of Understanding, it is aimed that the graduates of Istanbul Technical University benefit from internship opportunities within the body of the European Patent Office (EPO), the second intergovernmental organization of Europe.

University students applied for patents free of charge within the scope of the competition through EPATS, the electronic application system of TURKPATENT. 10 inventions were determined from the applications evaluated according to various criteria by industrial property experts. The winner of the competition was awarded with 30 thousand TL, the second with 20 thousand TL, the third with 15 thousand TL, the fourth and tenth students with 10 thousand TL. A total of 135 thousand TL was awarded to the students who ranked high. In addition, free patent valuation service will be provided by the Turkish Industrial Property Valuation Company (TÜRKSMD) for the inventions that rank in the top three.

The opening ceremony, which was held at the Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center of Istanbul Technical University Ayazağa Campus, was opened by the President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, Cemil BAŞPINAR, and the Rector of Istanbul Technical University, Prof. Dr. İsmail KOYUNCU and António CAMPINOS, Head of the European Patent Office. Then the top 10 students received their awards.

Patentle Türkiye - The list of award winners in the 3rd Universities Patent Competition is as follows:

Zeynep Sabra TUTAR, Ceyhan Ceran SERDAR and Zihni Onur Uygun from Ankara Medipol University and Kafkas University with their invention "Biosensor for Impedimetric Measurement of L-Fabp Protein", which won the 1st prize

Abuu Bakari KIHERO, Muhammad SOHAIB, Jamal SOLAIJA and Hüseyin ARSLAN from Istanbul Medipol University for their invention of "Distributed Carrier Frequency Offset Balancing for Secure Wireless Communication", which won the 2nd prize

Burcu TİMUR, Duygu Yılmaz USTA, and Zeynep Şafak TEKSİN from Gazi University with the invention of "Exemestane Loaded Self-Nanoemulsified Drug Delivery System (Snedds) Formulation Prepared with Medium Chain Mono and Diglyceride Mixtures that Can Be Used in Breast Cancer Treatment", which won the 3rd prize.

Esra NALBAT, Rengül Çetin ATALAY and Nurcan TUNÇBAĞ from Middle East Technical University, Koç University and Chicago University with their invention "Detection of Drug Combinations Against Liver Cancer with Signal Network Analysis", which won the 4th prize.

Emre CUMALI and Çağdaş FIRAT from Anadolu University with the invention of "Electroluminescence Based Optical Cochlear Implant Optrode Array", which won the 5th prize

Mukaddes Şevval ÇETİN, Hatice Aylin Karahan TOPRAKÇI and Ozan TOPRAKÇI from Yalova University for their invention "Cannabis Based Pressure and Elongation Sensor Preparation Method Used in the Monitoring of Motions", which won the 6th prize

Ercan ÇAĞLAR from Çanakkale 18 Mart University with his invention "Key Generation and Secure Communication Method with Quantum Reinforced Learning for Quantum Based Information Security" won the 7th prize.

İlayda ÖZHAVZALI from Gazi University with her invention "Biosensor System for Quantitative Measurement of Phenylalanine from Blood", which won the 8th prize

Rıdvan Muhammed ADIN from Hacettepe University with his invention "A System Providing the Evaluation of the Coordination of Upper Extremity Movements", which won the 9th prize

Ferhat ÇEÇEN and Bekir AKTAŞ from Erciyes University won the 10th prize with their invention "Preventing Resonance Damages, Without Prestressing and Without Stirrup, Solid, Sustainable Concrete Sleeper"
