The 9th year of the International Graduate Program in Intellectual Property Law has been completed at TÜRKPATENT.
The graduation ceremony of the 9th Academic Year of the Graduate Program in Intellectual Property Law jointly conducted by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Ankara University, and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) was held on June 13, 2025, at the TÜRKPATENT Conference Hall, alongside the seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence Transformation and Intellectual Property.”
The event was attended by TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK; Head of the Department of Intellectual Property Law at Ankara University Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Arzu OĞUZ; Supreme Court Member Döndü Deniz BİLİR; Ambassador of Sri Lanka H.E. Ms. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte DISSANAYAKE; representatives from the Ministry of Justice, YTB, universities, and academicians. Prof. Dr. Enrico BONADIO, a faculty member from the Department of Intellectual Property Law at City Saint George’s University of London, joined the program online.
In his speech, TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK emphasized that the program is not only an academic initiative but also a platform that strengthens international cooperation and knowledge sharing. He stated that participants from 42 countries have taken part in the program to date and that, as of 2025, the number of graduates has exceeded 150. He underlined that a strong intellectual property system is a fundamental pillar for innovation and development.
Following the opening speeches, diplomas were awarded to the graduates who completed the 9th Academic Year of the program.
Panel on Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property
After the graduation ceremony, a panel titled “Artificial Intelligence Transformation and Intellectual Property” was held. The panel addressed current topics such as artificial intelligence and ethics from an engineering perspective, the assessability of patent applications involving artificial intelligence, and the relationship between copyright and artificial intelligence.
