The World Intellectual Property Day event was held at TÜRKPATENT under the theme "Industrial Property and Music: Feel the Rhythm of Industrial Property" with Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Muhammet Kasım GÖNÜLLÜ and other key officials in attendance.
Deputy Minister GÖNÜLLÜ emphasized that just as music harmonizes different notes, innovation thrives through protecting ideas and inventions. Highlighting Turkey's success in intellectual property over the past 23 years, he noted that the industrial property portfolio has grown from 93,000 to over 2 million, with Turkey ranking 12th globally in patent applications, 6th in trademarks, and 2nd in designs. He shared milestones such as 10,186 domestic patent applications in 2024 and increased investments through support programs, particularly in R&D and technoparks.
TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK stressed the growing role of universities, whose share in patent applications rose from 0.2% in 2010 to 12.4% in 2024.
DURAK also introduced the "IP Pioneers Project," where selected university students educated vocational high school students about industrial property, reaching 2,450 students in Ankara.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to these "IP Pioneers," highlighting Turkey’s ongoing efforts to foster a strong intellectual property culture among youth.
