Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı is Registered in the EU

Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil) became Türkiye's 20th geographical indication registered in the EU with the registration publication made today in the Official Gazette of the European Commission.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR stated that the number of products that received geographical indication registration from the European Union (EU) reached 20 with Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı.

In his statement, KACIR stated that while they continue to protect and record local values on a national basis, they also continue to promote Türkiye's rich cultural heritage and tastes in the international arena through geographical indication registrations with the EU.

  "With the announcement made by the EU today, Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı became our 20th registered geographical indication. I also congratulate our producers in Aydın province, who have 3 geographically indicated products in the EU." KACIR noted that the increasing number of geographical indications, in addition to their economic benefits, reinforces Türkiye's gastronomic and cultural influence on the world and contributes greatly to its promotion.

TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK also commented on the registration of Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı as: "May " Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı", our 20th geographically indicated product registered in the EU, will bring prosperity to our country."
