A Cooperation Protocol was Signed between Türkiye and Palestine for cooperation on Industrial Property Rights
The memorandum of understanding for cooperation between TÜRKPATENT and the General Directorate of Intellectual Property of the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy was signed by TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. DURAK and Palestine's Ambassador to Ankara Faed Halid Abed MUSTAFA. Although the negotiations were completed in August 2023, the signing ceremony, which was postponed due to Israel's attacks on Gaza and the related obstacles, took place at our Institution on March 12, 2024, upon the request of the Palestinian side.
During the meeting held in this context, Ambassador Faed Khalid Abed MUSTAFA expressed his satisfaction with the continuous support our country provides to the Palestinian people and the state, and expressed his expectations from our country and our Office in terms of establishing Palestine's capacity in intellectual property and especially in innovation, in the coming period. TÜRKPATENT President Prof. DURAK, on the other hand, expressed his satisfaction that the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office contributes to the support provided by our country to Palestine, within the framework of its area of duty and capacity.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on how to deliver dates originating from Palestine and especially Jerusalem to consumers in our country, and how to prevent the unfair use of the phrases Palestine and Jerusalem regarding these products.
