Workshop on Mediation of Intellectual Property (IP) Disputes was held in cooperation with the TÜRKPATENT, the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and the Turkish Justice Academy.
President of Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK participated in the Workshop on Mediation of IP Disputes.
The workshop, which took place in the Assembly Hall of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry on May 9, 2024, started with the opening speeches of the TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK, WIPO Assistant Director General Marco ALEMAN, and Istanbul Chamber of Industry Vice General Secretary Hasan ÇOBAN.
In his speech here, TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK said that there are more than 2 million valid industrial property registrations in Türkiye and stated that industrial property rights are one of the most important tools of global competition.
DURAK stated that, as an office, they work closely with international institutions such as WIPO, courts, experts, lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys and academicians.
“In this context, within the scope of the memorandum of understanding signed between TÜRKPATENT and WIPO in 2023, we are holding the ‘Workshop on Mediation of IP Disputes’ together as a stage of our cooperation.”
Following the opening speeches, the workshop continued with the sessions "Resolving IP and Technology Disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution", "Mediation of IP Disputes in Türkiye: Overview" and "Conducting Mediation under the WIPO Mediation Rules and Case Studies".
